Guildford College, part of Activate Learning, has a vacancy for a lecturer in Counselling to join us in delivering our undergraduate programmes.

The post holder will become part of a friendly, hard-working and dedicated team on a BACP accredited Foundation Degree (FdSc). Our counselling team covers a range of counselling theoretical approaches, practice and research interests, with a team approach to teaching and learning.

We are looking to speak to individuals who can deliver Counselling teaching on a permanent, part time basis. Please detail your availability and what hours you would be able to offer on the cover letter/personal statement section of your application form.

Formal teaching in the role won't be needed until September 2022, however we are keen to bring a candidate on board from August onwards to ensure the post-holder is settled and feeling prepared prior to the new academic year.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, team-orientated, flexible individual with excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and presenting skills.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a BSc/BA or MSc/MA in Counselling or Counselling Psychology
  • Be an accredited member of a professional counselling body (i.e. BACP) or working towards accreditation
  • Be a current practitioner with at least two years’ supervised counselling practice
  • Have experience of an integrative approach of different therapy modalities
  • Have a supervision qualification or be willing to work towards this

You may not currently be teaching or indeed have taught before, however we would still be interested to hear from you as we will support you in your future professional development including obtaining a PGCE. We will also support the right applicant in obtaining professional membership and additional qualifications.

Courses are taught and assessed through a variety of interactive activities, including personal development groups, as such experience of group facilitation would be helpful in this part of the job.

What are the benefits of this role?

There really is no limit in terms of your personal growth, development and career by joining one of the largest Education Providers in the UK. You will have a comprehensive development program as part of induction together with peer to peer learning, a formal development plan and support at every step of the way to set you up for success.

We offer a buddy system, a digital induction module and a close-knit community of experts and leaders across the Group to support the sharing of best practice and encourage individual growth. We have extensive technology in place to develop digital capability and flexible working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.
