We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual with a passion for working with people to join our Giving Nature a Home project in Glasgow.

The Giving Nature a Home (GNaH) project empowers people to take conservation action across Glasgow and Edinburgh to make our cities greener, healthier, and wilder. We work with partners to promote positive change in our urban green spaces, creating new habitats and opportunities for environmental education and species movement, to create better-quality green spaces for people and wildlife.

You will work with the existing project team in Glasgow and with partners, communities, and schools, through networking, training, and citizen science to deliver conservation outputs in urban green spaces. You will support the project manager to create and maintain partnership opportunities in line with the project objectives.

About the role

You will be responsible for:

•    Helping put in place the right governance structure to keep their projects on track
•    Undertaking agreed activities in order to deliver the project outputs and objectives in accordance with the project plan
•    Working with staff, partners, external contractors, and volunteers as necessary to ensure that actions are delivered to agreed standards of cost, quality and time
•    Producing relevant project documentation as directed by the project manager
•    Developing and deliver appropriate communication activities such as events, media interaction, briefings, talks and production of materials in association with communications colleagues to support the delivery of the project
•    Co-ordinating meetings and report to the project manager (and project board, if appropriate)
•    Ensuring that risks and issues are highlighted to the project manager
•    Supporting the project manager in managing the project budget
•    Contributing to project reviews
•    Contributing to the handover to ‘business as usual’ at the project, by conducting any follow-on actions as directed by the project manager

Essential skills, knowledge, and experience:

•    Competent IT user (e.g., MS packages, Outlook etc). 
•    Skills relevant to the specific aims and objectives of the project. 
•    The ability to communicate about the project in a passionate and credible manner. 
•    An ability to produce clear written communications. 
•    An ability to persuade and influence a wide range of people, both internally and externally. 
•    Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to find creative solutions. 
•    Able to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances. 
•    Proven time management and organisational skills. 
•    Attention to detail. 
•    Report writing 
•    Working with project teams and stakeholders 
•    Delivering projects and working to deliver project outputs for funders

The successful candidate will have proven experience of delivering environmental education and/ or practical conservation activities with groups, community engagement and working as part of an active and multidisciplinary team. The post will be part of our Glasgow team with postholders likely to be dual based, working from both the RSPB Glasgow office and home.
