About Pulborough Brooks 

Pulborough Brooks is one of the RSPB's biggest visitor operations providing a great opportunity to connect lots of people with nature within the stunning landscape of the South Downs. The reserves at Pulborough and Amberley Wild Brooks have incredibly varied habitats from wet grassland with breeding waders and wildfowl, to heathland and woodland with nightingale, woodlark and barbastelle bats. It is also home to some of the UK's most endangered species including the little whirlpool ramshorn snail (Anisus vorticulus).

About the Role

We are looking for somebody with the energy to lead a big team and the enthusiasm to save nature and inspire people. You will be well organised, focused, resilient, and a great communicator. We are more interested in who you are and what you want to achieve, than what you have done; and will provide support for candidates with less experience, but the right mix of talent.

Your role will include; (Non-Exhuastive)

• Developing and leading the RSPB’s vision for Pulborough Brooks. Some of the most important outcomes include:
• Leading the reserve team (staff and volunteers); ensuring they are inspired, have clarity of purpose, are safe, and have what they need to do their jobs.
• Leading on projects to enhance the visitor experience, improve habitats and save species.
• Increasing the profitability of the retail and catering operations increasing money available to save nature.
• Delivering a high-quality visitor experience and connecting people with nature.
• Building connections between the nature reserve and the local community and working with partners to save nature in the Arun valley.
• Maintaining a high-quality wetland habitat and populations of breeding wetland birds and other species.
• Delivering the key elements of reserves management: budgeting, health and safety, compliance, management planning, fundraising, reporting and public relations.

Additional Information

This role is Permanent/Full-Time working 37.5 hours each week.
