About Sherwood Forest 

Sherwood is a landscape thousands of years in the making, alive with nature, history and folklore.  Today Sherwood is a magical destination, home to the enduring legend of Robin Hood & the famous Major Oak, estimated to be more than 1,000 years old.  We care for over 1,000 acres of ancient woodland and rolling heathland which is home to thousands of species of bird, insect, mammal, fungi, tree and plant.  Wooded for centuries & once part of a vast royal hunting ground, for the 350,000 people who come to Sherwood Forest each year it is an incredible place to visit, boasting a unique collection of ancient oaks which have been thriving here for over 600 years.

About the Role

You'll be working in our visitor centre, indoors and outdoors, helping to give a warm welcome to our visitors and assisting with the day-to-day running of our visitor centre. You'll encourage visitors to explore the reserve, join in with our events and give excellent customer service in our shop and café. 

Our visitor centre is open Monday to Sunday all year, so you'll need to be flexible and able to work throughout the week. Regular weekend and Bank Holiday working will be essential.

Full induction and training will be provided.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Enthusiastic approach to work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Multitasking skills.
  • Ability to manage and respond quickly and positively to customer needs and feedback.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience of working at a catering environment/visitor attraction. 
  • Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of food and foodservice skills.
  • Till operation and payment handling.

Additional Information

This is a permanent role for a guaranteed 10 hours per week. There will be opportunities to work more hours on a flexible basis in line with our business needs.
