Activate Learning now have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Careers Adviser to join our Activate Careers team at Reading College. 

Working as part of the Careers team, you will deliver a planned programme of workshops to selected groups of students and provide advice to students on their UCAS Personal Statements and CVs and to support their job search activities.

In this incredibly rewarding role, you will be supporting young people to explore their education and career options, to identify their goals and to plan and execute their next steps.

  • Hours - Part-time, working 25 hours a week, term time only (working pattern to be negotiated) and fixed term until June 2023.
  • Location - Reading College, with the potential of some cross campus delivery.
  • Salary - £24,007 per annum (£13,687 pro rata)

 

What do you need to be a successful Assistant Careers Adviser at Activate Learning?

We are looking for a highly organised and passionate individual with experience of delivering presentations or workshops to an audience. Ideally, you will have experience of supporting individuals to search and apply for vacancies, assisting them to create a winning CV and to complete successful applications.  

In addition, you will have the ability to develop effective relationships with students, staff, employers, and other external partners to assist our delivery of a varied careers information programme.

About you:

  • Experience of delivering presentations or workshops to an audience is essential 
  • Experience of supporting people into employment is desirable
  • IT literate with excellent communication skills
  • Organised and able to set and manage priorities and to work effectively as part of the team to achieve required outcomes.

You may not have considered using your skills in this way before, so this could take your career and experience in a new direction and may also present opportunities longer term, to provide you with a varied and fulfilling career path.
