Activate Learning are now looking for enthusiastic and inspiring teacher to join our Lifeskills team at Banbury College.

The Lifeskills team works to support learners who face barriers to education, including learners with special educational needs. This post provides an excellent opportunity for a teacher with passion and drive who is committed to enabling our students to unlock their potential and switch on to the power of learning.

You will be a subject expert Maths and confident in delivering subject specific lessons, including up to Level 1, to full-time groups via face-to-face teaching delivery, 1:1 intervention, offering pastoral support and mentoring. You will have the responsibility and accountability for the study programme, and you will also deliver employability sessions, such as,  wellness, and overall life skills tasks.

We currently have a full-time opportunity available on a permanent basis, starting in September 2022.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

Successful candidates will have an appropriate professional qualification or experience. Whilst we would prefer applications from qualified teachers who hold a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, we would consider applications from unqualified applicants, with the ability to inspire our learners and a willingness to complete a teaching qualification. Unqualified candidates would start at a lower salary point and this could be discussed at interview, if successfully shortlisted.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate resilience and empathy to support students to succeed and encourage them to reach their potential.  In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will have an open mindset and attitude towards technology and virtual learning tools. Along with current Maths and English skills, you will also demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
