We are looking for an experienced hospitality professional to lead the Food & Beverage team at our brand-new cafe at RSPB Frampton Marsh. This exciting opportunity is ideal for someone with a passion for food and drink, is dynamic, self-motivated, and looking to make a real difference in nature. 

About Frampton Marsh and The RSPB

Situated on the Lincolnshire shore of The Wash, Frampton Marsh is the UK’s most important estuary for wildlife, set up to bring nature closer to you. Located just 4 miles from the Lincolnshire town of Boston, it is primarily made up of wetlands, reedbeds, large freshwater scrapes and wet grassland. The reserve is an internationally important place for wintering wildfowl and a crucial place for both migrating and breeding waders.

Frampton Marsh is one of the best places for wildlife in the UK. It is at the leading edge of visitor and habitat nature conservation planning. Facilities include a visitor centre, more than 3km of accessible footpaths to explore and three hides - two with 360-degree views. Our café is brand-new for 2022, reflecting our desire to enhance the experience for the 50,000 visitors who visit us every year. 

Food & Beverage plays an important role in helping The RSPB to deliver its strategy. Income raised from the sale of food and drink allows us to continue funding important conservation projects, public education, and advocacy for nature.

For this role, you will need to be available to work during the day, on weekends, and Bank holiday working will also be essential.

About the role 

You will be responsible for

  • Leading a high performing, knowledgeable and enthusiastic team
  • Ensuring the team is deliver the highest standards, resulting in high-quality visitor experience
  • Monitoring and achieving against agreed targets and KPI's for income generation 
  • Ensuring all catering administration, operating processes, security, food hygiene, health & safety adhere to the RSPB procedures
  • Managing recruitment, inductions and ongoing development of staff and volunteers
  • Responsible for planning the efficient day to day running of the café

What we need from you:

•    Experience in managing a commercial Food & Beverage operation. 
•    Level 3 Supervising Food Safety and working knowledge of health and safety.
•    Able to demonstrate experience in managing and delivering targets, analysing and interpreting financial data. 
•    Working knowledge of motivating and coaching teams, able to build and maintain strong working relationships. 
•    Experience of delivering customer service techniques, managing and responding to customer needs and feedback. 
•    Confident in planning, problem-solving, prioritising workloads and the ability to work on own initiative. 
•    Understanding of EPOS, including confidence in operating any relevant business systems with a hospitality environment. Desirable
•    GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent. Desirable
